Lonsdale’s Barnet IFA Daniel Stansall passes Diploma Pension Planning exam
Wednesday 3 January, 2018
Daniel Stansall, Lonsdale Wealth Management independent financial adviser in Barnet, North London has recently passed the Advanced Diploma Pension Planning exam (AF3). This examination is required as part of the Chartered Financial Planner qualification.
The Advanced Diploma Pension Planning exam covers every aspect of retirement planning. The course reviews the different types of pensions available, and compares the merits of defined benefit schemes v defined contribution schemes. The course considers how pensions are invested, contribution limits (both annual and lifetime), and available transitional protections.
Daniel Stansall, independent financial adviser (IFA), Barnet, and member of the North London financial planning team said:
‘The aim of the Advanced Diploma Pension Planning course is for students to be able to understand the specifics of any pension so they can work out how appropriate it is for their clients. The course reviews the type of information you require from clients to improve the decision making. It also focuses on the options people should consider with regard to retirement planning.’
Daniel Stansall, pension adviser Barnet, North London continued:
‘The course was very demanding and the study took up to 150 hours. I completed most of the study in my spare time and I took the exam because I am working towards my advanced qualification and chartered financial planning status, and this exam counts towards that qualification. I am now planning to study for the other chartered financial planning exams. I chose to complete the pension qualification first as it is particularly relevant given the recent changes in pension legislation. Within the Lonsdale Barnet financial planning team we are finding that pension switches, pension transfers and pension reviews is currently the majority of our business. Having now passed the Advanced Diploma Pension Planning exam I am well placed to offer pension financial planning advice to our clients.’
